History

Endemix was created by Baris Bilen, a chemical engineer with an MBA degree, upon acquiring an extract research firm in 2007. The firm had several years of R&D work done on different extraction methods, but the focus was on supercritical extraction with CO2.

In 2008, production trials on many different extracts took place on the newly built capacity for this high technology extraction method. By means of commercializing a unique paprika extract, Endemix entered the natural colors market which then was taking off to become the main food colorant in all over Europe.

Aligning this exciting market opportunity with its defining strategy, Endemix chose black carrot as the main source since globally this item was predominantly supplied from Turkey. Still today, Endemix keeps launching new black carrot products after several other unique ones which make up the core of its product portfolio.

In 2010, Endemix started an R&D program for creating an entire ‘natural color solutions’ portfolio in order to support the local food manufacturers in switching to natural colors with customized and local solutions. Endemix still keeps up with the global developments to supply the best of what is available to its loyal client base.

An initial spray drying capacity was already installed in 2012 to match the needs of Endemix to achieve its main strategy: to sell its unique products to all ends of the world. As success came quickly, a much bigger capacity had to wait until the new campus came to life.

In the following years, red beet slowly became the new engine for Endemix alongside with black carrot. Countless new product development projects were taken on for various pigments in the local market and for various attributes to black carrot and red beet globally. Endemix had become a company known for its ‘natural colors’.

In an attempt to gear up for the exciting years to come, Endemix also went through a reorganization in the same period of the move. The new capacity additions to almost all production lines followed fast. The new team and the new facility with plenty of excess space meant a new outlook for Endemix.

Major milestones for Endemix were achieved at high pace in 2018. The new facility now also had an official R&D center with significant government incentives. And the clients in Europe did not have to import any more as Endemix Europe started shipping out of Holland.

Lastly in 2019, Endemix was ready to renew its branding with a refined strategy and a clear plan for the future. This included a new logo that shows a red vegetable showing our reach all the way to the field and our focus on the red colors as well as the new area we are moving in to, health.
